Leadership is beyond important in the world of politics, as prominent politicians must learn the art of leadership in order to advance in their careers and take on additional responsibilities. So, what are the qualities that a political leader must possess? According to leadershipexpert.co.uk, “many political leaders seem to severely lack some of the most important leadership qualities, such as integrity and accountability… However, history – and present day – shows us that there are still a few who come close to the leadership ideals and who are good examples of an effective political leader.”

Leadership is beyond important in the world of politics, as prominent politicians must learn the art of leadership in order to advance in their careers and take on additional responsibilities. So, what are the qualities that a political leader must possess? According to its people” leadershipexpert.co.uk states. Leadership comes with the territory of being a politician, as one must learn to delegate and hold more responsibility in positions of authority. It works both ways, too. Many people with leadership abilities would do well to polish their political skills. “Leaders who have strong political skills, like building connections and fostering trust, are happier and more engaged at work… Having political skills and learning to be an effective leader don't come easily to everyone. The good news, however, is that anyone can hone their political skills” businessnewsdaily.com says.

When it comes to journalism, developing good political and leadership skills can be very important in understanding and correctly writing about politics and political figures. “As very few voters have direct contact with party leaders, media are voters’ primary source of information about these leaders and, thus, the likely origin of leader effects on party support” according to journals.sagepublic.com. With journalists being many voter’s main source of information about political figures, elections, and general politics, being knowledgeable about the leadership qualities that political figures may or may not possess would allow them to accurately convey their credibility, or lack thereof, to the public, thus spreading the information to those that need it.
